After a long day of travel...we left Guelph at 4:45 am and arrived in Nicaragua at 3:45pm Central Time, all hot and sweaty and tired. The temp was 31--at least 40 with the humidex.
We had a great supper and a quick meeting regarding our itinerary and soon will be heading to bed.
The photo is of Lake Managua just before we touched down.
First impressions...the country is very lush, green after all the rains and in combination with the hot weather. Another impression is of the interesting streetscapes, mostly scenes of poverty and no improvements in the city infrastructure. There is also a bit of political unrest in the city after the municipal elections.
That's it for now. Tomorrow we will give a bit of info on where we are staying and the work we will be doing.
